Xylem cavitation will lead to hydraulic dysfunction and even mortality. The study aims to decipher grapevine ability to cope with or avoid cavitation. We are developing a sensor that will enable us to measure cavitation in intact field grown vines for the first time.

Additionally, we will explore the plasticity of grapevines in respect to the crop phenology and past irrigation conditions.
