Olives acclimation to drought stress

We study the physiology in non irrigated Olives during the long dry summer they experience in Israel. Particularly we are interested in the role of osmolite accumulation during drought and its ability to maintain positive turgor even under the low water potential olives experience at peak summer (<-4 MPa). Additionally we are interested in the physiological thresholds that will lead to Olives mortality under water stress.
