Soil microorganisms mediate many of the critical soil processes and quickly respond to environmental perturbations. Therefore, they can serve as indicators for ecosystem functionality.

My research examines how various agricultural field practices, affect the soil and root microbiome community structure and function.
We aim to understand the response of bacterial communities, in the highly complex soil ecosystem, to these anthropogenic interventions, using advanced bioinformatics analysis tools in combination with "wet" microbiology methods.

Additionally, the root-microbiome- pathogen interactions, fascinates me, and using advanced microscopy and high-throughput methods we aim to understand better this complex interaction and find novel anti-fungal microbial originated new metabolites.
